I know that SOPA’s big right now, but it really surprises me at the number of people who still don’t know about it. And I know that it seems so ridiculous that it’s not going to pass—to be honest, when I first heard about it, I thought it was a joke—but seriously, it’s not that difficult to take a moment and let people know what SOPA and its buddy PIPA are.

The fact that these bills are actually in Congress and have congressional support is enough to make me want to do something a little more than just sit back with the attitude “Well it’s not going to pass anyway, so why bother?” I mean, bills like these are bills that many Americans would never even dream would exist—but now they do, and that makes them real enough for me. Because you know what? If we all take the attitude “It’s not going to happen anyway,” then it will happen.

Also—a lot of people don’t know about PIPA, which is basically like SOPA’s twin but in the Senate. The link can tell you more about it. I dunno about you, but I certainly don’t want PIPA sneaking in after SOPA without people noticing. So if you don’t know about PIPA yet… get to know it.
